About the book: Ender's Game began as a short story Orson Card wrote because he was in debt (causing his theater company to close down) and really needed money. The short story first appeared on a leading science fiction magazine called Analog in August 1977. He was then awarded the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 1978 for Ender's Game. In 1985, Card turned the original short story into a novel, which became wildly popular quickly and won the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1985 and the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1986. It had also won smaller awards like the Hamilton-Brackett Award in 1986 and the 1986 Science Fiction Chronicle Readers Poll Award, as well as second place in the 1986 Locus Poll for Best Novel. With many requests to have a second book to Ender's Game, Card also wrote Ender's Shadow, the sequel to Ender's Game. Besides the book, on November 1st, 2013, the movie Ender's Game ( based on the book ) will be coming out, starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Moisés Arias, and Aramis Knight.
